Working at Jarn
Jarn, located in sunny Tønsberg, Norway, employs the best Plone team in the world. Can you make us even better?
Values
We have a social and innovative environment. We believe every employee has something to say, and we strive to involve everyone in the decision making process. We are deeply engaged in what we do, and when we improve, we do it all together. — That's why we all have the same salary.
We don't shy away from technology. Instead of just theming and deploying Plone, most of our work is actual development of technology. All of our employees are active contributors to the Plone core.
Working in a team where everyone is geared towards always building the highest of quality future-proof solutions is inspiring to all of us and makes us build even better software.
Benefits
We provide a competitive salary, four weeks vacation each year, a pension scheme, and high-end hardware to get your job done.
You'll also be a part of the 10% manifesto — where you can devote 10% of your time to making Plone better without the curbs of customers' needs. We also all attend the Plone conference each year.
At Jarn, there is such a thing as a free lunch. A hot meal is provided every day, but you'll have to pay for the ice cream for your post-lunch sun bath. You'll work in our open landscape offices (custom-built in 2008) and our dedicated pair-programming rooms — we work together to benefit from (and improve) each others' skills.
Employees from outside Scandinavia get paid language classes.
Working with us lets you live the life you want. Our employees live where they want, work flexibly and have time to attend to their kids, hobbies and other engagements while living anywhere from the rural island of Veierland to hectic and urban downtown Oslo.
The Norwegian government also provides excellent social services. With one of the highest per capita income in the world, there's universal healthcare, paid sick leave, excellent transportation and all you need to live a stable and secure life in the wealthiest country in the world. We are family friendlier than most: 12 months paid maternity leave, subsidised child care, and 10 extra paid sick-days for when you need to care for your kids.
Living in Tønsberg
Tønsberg is the oldest city in Norway, founded in 871 AD. With its 46000 inhabitants in the urban area, it's located just 100 kilometers from Oslo, the capital of Norway. It's the perfect mix between the relaxed feeling of the South and the hectic urban culture of metropolitan Oslo. The Tønsberg area is the fastest growing area in Norway. Comminications are easy with the nearby international yet small airport Torp only 20 minutes away.
The municipality is located by the sea in the Oslo fjord, with numerous beaches and islands for recreation. Tønsberg itself has a whopping 55 kilometers of coastline, and is one of the most popular areas for tourism in the summer. The town is located at the foot of the "Slottsfjellet" castle hill, a medieval castle with its own annual rock festival.
The city provides what you need to get going, even if you bring your kids.
Would you like to join us?
You're creative, innovative and have a history of solid Plone contributions. You are fluent in at least Python and English, and you are familiar with the inner workings of Zope 2 and 3. You care about such topics as web performance, relational databases, automated testing or seemingly unrelated stuff of general geekyness, like how Heisenberg's uncertainty principle would apply to teleportation in practice…
You believe in your talent, you like a good challenge, and you like to solve the biggest of problems — and having fun doing so.
We consider applications at all times. Do you have what it takes? If so, send your application and resume to info@jarn.com.
