Navigating the seas of Plone

One of the most important things you need to do when using a content management system such as Plone is to find your way to your data. Typically this involves navigating through a site using the navigation portlet: for every step your browser needs to load another page so you can find the next step on your path. This can be a slow procedure since you need a full page load at each step.

A faster way to travel

To help you get to your destination faster we wrote the Explore portlet. This is an alternative to the standard Plone 3 navigation portlet which features AJAX-based navigation: simply click on the triangle next to a folder in the navigation tree and its contents will be loaded into the tree. Click again and the tree collapses again. This gives you a very fast and intuitive method to explore the contents of your site.
